By default, when you boot your computer certain
programs start automatically as the process go on and can slow down how much
time it takes for you pc to boot. To
access these settings, click on start and type in msconfig in the “search
programs and files” box, the msconfig program should show up in the box above,
click on it. Next you should see five
tabs to the top of the dialog box, click on the startup tab. Once opened a long list of all the programs that
start up when you boot your computer should be checked. You should go through you list carefully to
make sure that you are not turning off an important program that needs to be
on. Once you have gone through your list
and decide what you want on and off, click the apply button and it’s going to
ask you to restart your computer to apply the settings. The next time you boot your computer you
should notice how much faster it took to boot up.

How to run a computer in safe mode
The reason you would run a computer in safe mode
is because, say for instance your computer caught a virus, the best way to get
rid of it from causing any further damage is to run your computer in safe mode. To do this, open the start menu and to the
bottom of the window where it says “search programs and files” type in msconfig
and the program should come up in the box above. Click on msconfig to open it. Once the window is open you should see five
tabs to the top of the dialog box. Click
on the boot tab. Once opened in the boot
options you are going to see safe boot, click on it. Apply the settings and the wizard will ask
you to restart your computer. Once your
computer is restarted the next time it boots will be in safe mode. Locate your virus and delete it. To undo these settings you would repeat the
same steps, but when you click on the boot tab uncheck the box that says safe
boot and apply the settings. After that
your computer should boot to normal.
How to uninstall a program
Welcome back.
In this post I will be talking about how to uninstall programs that you
don’t need to free up space on your hard drive.
First off, close any windows that are open. Open the start menu and go to control panel. Next click on programs, then on programs and
features. A list will come up of all the
programs that came with your computer and the new ones that you installed. Select the program that you want to get rid
of, right click and press uninstall. You
can also select the program you want and once selected at the top of the window
you will see uninstall. Next a uninstall
wizard should pop up to help you remove your program successfully. Make sure that you delete all the files that are
associated with the program and read through the steps carefully and don’t just
keep clicking next. Once the program(s)
that you want are removed from your computer, you should restart your computer to
make sure it was done correctly. By
default when deleting some programs, the uninstall wizard will tell you that
you need to restart your computer to finish uninstalling the program, but you
can choose the option to restart later if you have more than one program to get
rid of.

How to create A user account.
In this post I’m going to be talking about how to
set different user accounts on your computer. It is important to have one administrator
account and at least one other regular user account. The reason for this is because say for
instance the computer that you are using is shared by you and your family and
you want to keep your personal documents safe, making a separate user account
for them will ensure that your documents wouldn’t be tampered with by
mistake. First and foremost if there’s
any open windows please minimize or close them. Next click the start button and go to control
panel. Next click on user accounts and
family safety. Next click on add or
remove user accounts, then click on manage accounts. In the middle of the window you will see
create a new account. You will then have
the choice to make a standard user account.
Create it with a name of your choice and add a picture if you’d like to. Once you have done this click save and your
new account will be up and ready to go.
You can then add whatever programs that you commonly use, and customized
the desktop and settings to your specific needs.

How to change your desktop wallpaper.
There are two common ways to change your desktop. The first way is through control panel. Click the start button go to control panel and
select it. Once you have selected it,
click on “appearance and personalization”. Next step, click on “personalization”. Once you have reached this far, at the end of
the personalization screen you should be able to see “desktop background”. You will see a few pre-installed wallpapers
that came with your computer. If you do
not like the wallpapers that are installed you can browse from you picture
library. To do so, next to “picture
location” at the top of the personalization screen click “browse”. You can choose a picture from your photo
library or upload one from an external device. Select the picture that you want and click ok.
Once you’ve saved it and you’re back on
the main screen again, click apply and you should see that your desktop have changed.
The next and simplest way is by right
clicking on your desktop. If you have any other windows that are open at the
moment, minimize or close them. Once
you’re on the desktop, right click and select “personalize’. You will then see the same screen as mentioned
in the first explanation.
